Scripture:  But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness! (Matthew 6:23 AMP).

It’s hard to watch the news stations, even those with Christian viewpoints. Every day, our nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage is being more assaulted. We see a terrible spiritual darkness encroaching.  It’s tempting to turn our eyes away from the news channels. But at a time like this, when our nation is falling apart, I think Christians should not only keep aware of our leaders’ actions, but also get involved:

  • Write/call our representatives in Congress.
  • Attend rallies and political meetings.
  • Sign petitions.
  • Do all we can to encourage the Christian vote.
  • Be very aware of each party’s platform and voice our Christian beliefs.

Ninety million Christians in America are eligible to vote, but as many as forty million fail to vote in Presidential election cycles. And fifteen million are not even registered to vote, according to the My Faith Votes website.

The return of our people in Afghanistan, the abolition of abortion, and the moral direction of our nation are all causes Christians should be very vocal about. As Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

By turning off the news and burying our heads in the sand, we ignore the dangers that surround us and do nothing to change the disintegration of our culture. God has given us minds to discern evil, voices to challenge, and strength to fight. I’d like my church to be one of those at the forefront of this fight.

Prayer: Father God, please give us the courage to stand for Your righteousness and make our voices heard.  In Jesus’s name
